Free-choice learning at an aquarium – Kagoshima

Aquariums are a tourist destination as well as a family and leisure destination. They also are an educational setting. They can get an educational message across to the visitors. The Kagoshima Aquarium is a great place to have a good time and learn the ecology of aquatic animals in an unconscious manner. The dolphin performance and seal demonstration were fun learning opportunities, not a mere entertainment, to encourage the audiences to be aware of and understand those animals’ intelligence and behaviors. Conservation messages were displayed throughout the facility. Although not many visitors come here to learn ecology, biology, or conservation, visitors are exposed to these explicit or implicit educational messages, which facilitates the visitors to feel or think something about the aquatic animals. (I hope.)
