‘Folkloresque’ – abstracting the essence

The perception of ‘truth’ and ‘genuineness’ is important for people to believe that the thing they are seeing, hearing, or experiencing is real or original. What to call and how to understand this belief is under on-going discussions. I view this as an essential part among many parts that compose a particular culture, and regarded it as ‘authentic’ or ‘quintessential’ element of that particular culture. I also consider it to become a tipping point of that particular culture, as the culture might not be able to sustain itself if it was lost. I’ve been trying to explore such an essence of Kanazawa. A folklorist introduced me the concept of folkloresque, and I think it describes my view well.
